What type of switch is the power button on a computer?
I don’t know a great deal about electronics, so I’m not sure what the difference is between some of the values below. So what’s it’s (a computer’s power switch):

And what range should its contact current rating fall within?
You want a push-to-make SPST switch. (”Single Pole Single Throw” that makes momentary contact when pushed.
Most toggle switches wont due as they are either in an on or off position. When you flip the toggle on it would keep the circuit closed telling the motherboard to shut down. Example: Holding the power button down on your PC for 10 seconds to do a hard shutdown.
Remember you want a push-to-make switch which is normally open and that closes the circuit momentarily when pressed.
The power running through ATX power switch is usually no higher than 5 volts. Almost any switch that fits the bill in the other departments will do. If your feeling brave you could modify another type of switch to act accordingly.
To sum it up again you most likely want a push-to-make SPST switch.
