Cable Stranded
why are some cables stranded and others solid…?
is it to do with resistance?
ie all dc cables ive seen are stranded? (is that because dc creates more resistance than ac so the load is split over thinner wires)
speaker cables are stranded (is that to prevent signal distortion through resistance?)
but why are the only cables i can think of 1mm-2.5mm solid
an indepth answer please so i can determine were i can use what, and just so i know the answer

One reason they make stranded cables is that they hold up better for frequent bending. Another reason is when high frequency signals go through the cable. With high frequency signals, most of the current is near the surface of the cable, and by having more strands you have more service area and thus less resistance. For low frequency signals and for cables that are installed where they won’t be bended often, the solid cable lasts longer and also has less resistance.
