Pushbutton Switches
using a DIP switch?
I have a DIP switch that has 4 swithes on the top. How can I use this to enter a 3-bit number into my circuit?
And how will a pushbutton be useful in entering this number?
use 3 of the four dip switches. Tie one end of each dip switch to ground, tie the other end high through a suitable pullup resistor. The side with the pullup resistor can be your input into a latch (like the 74LS374).
Then configure the 4th dip switch (or a NO pushbutton switch) the same way as the bit input switches and make it the input to the clock line on the latch.
Pressing the pushbutton will latch in the 3bit value you have set on the dip switches.
