Stage Positioning
How should a drummer act on stage?
I ask this question because this is my first time ever being a drummer for a band. I’ve filled the position of guitarist, lead singer, and bassist before but never the drummer. What should my stage presence be?
A lot of it depends on what type of music you are playing. if you are playing easy listening or country music, blues…then drummers are usually laid back. If you play thrash punk or metal then you act like a maniac.
Best advice: Just be yourself and have fun. Usually the music you play will make you act appropriately.
Most of all DON’T “ACT” like a drummer. There is nothing worse than posers.
If you are a good drummer, you won’t even think about what you are doing. I have done much the same as you. filled many different roles, including playing drums at a few gigs.
If you have fun and play well, the audience will “get” you.
